The fascinating biography of Arthur Woolf 1766-1837, native of Cambourne, a Cornish mining village. Considered a first rate journeyman, he worked in London with the celebrated Bramah. For several years he was engineer to one of the foremost London breweries where he developed his patent boiler engine, and on returning to Cornwall he pioneered the use of high pressure steam in the engines of the mines. The book highlights Cornish mining and mine engineering during their heyday. (good condition)
