Description

Edited for the Royal Historical Society by D. W. Crossley, hardback, 269 pages, Camden Fourth Series, volume 15, Royal Historical Society, 1975.

The De L'Isle ironworks accounts refer to three undertakings. A forge was operated at Robertsbridge, Sussex, between 1541 and 1573, with two furnaces, one at Robertsbridge between 1541 and 1546, and the other at Panningridge between 1542 and 1562. Steelworks were in production at Robertsbridge between 1564 and 1572, and an iron furnace and forge were built in Glamorgan in the early 1560s.
